Entry Formalities


Foreigners
: The entry formalities deffer for indians and foriegners. All the Foreigners require a permit to stay in the Islands, which can easily be obtained on arrival at Port Blair for 30 days. In addition, permits can also be obtained from Indian Mission Overseas, Foreigners Registration Offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta and the immigration authorities at the airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta.

The places covered by this permit for night halt are: South Andaman Island (except Jarwa Reserve), Middle Andaman Island (except Jarwa Reserve), Little Andaman Island (except Jarwa Reserve), Neil Island, Havelock Island, Long Island, Diglipur, Baratang, Islands in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Part (excluding Islands-Boat, Hobday, Twin, Tarmugli, Malay and Pluto) (Night halt with permission only) and North Passage. The places covered by this permit for day halt are Ross Island, Narcondum Island, Interview Island, Brother Island, Sister Island and Barren Island.

Indians
: Indian Nationals need no permit to visit Andaman. However, visiting tribal areas of Andaman and Nicobar Districts is prohibited and permits can be granted by the Deputy Commissioner, Andaman District, Port Blair in special cases, on receipt of application in prescribed form.

: Indian Airlines operates flights for Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai and Calcutta-Port Blair-Calcutta. Jet Airways operates flights for Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai. The Journey time is 2 hours.

By Ship : Ships for Chennai and Calcutta are available about 4 times a month and for Vishakapatnam once in a month.
